Icarus was the son of the Daedalus an ancient Greek inventor. When Daedalus helped Theseus through the Maze and defeat the Minotaur, who then had took his daughter, wanted them dead. Being the smart man that Daedalus was he knew that there would be no escape from ground or sea, so he created wings. the wings were made of feathers and wax. When Icarus flew to high, the wax on his wings melted, and he fell into the ocean.
The meaning of the story is to not be reckless and to listen to your elders and to not be arrogant. With Icarus' recklessness he flew to high which caused the sun to melt his wings. Then before the went off for the flight Daedalus told him to stay on course and not to stray from the middle between the sun and the water. no more no less or else he will fall into the water. When Icarus was flying in the air, he had felt as though he was at the top of the world, that nothing could touch him. With this he flew to high and fell into the water below, that power that gave him the feeling of invincibility was also the power that plotted his down fall, he tried to escape fate but The Fates had other plans for him. http://www.pantheon.org/articles/i/icarus.htmlh http://thanasis.com/icarus.htm http://www.greekmyths-greekmythology.com/myth-of-daedalus-and-icarus/
